Tottenham identify Real Madrid starlet as Eriksen's replacement

The great 2018-19 season put up by Tottenham Hotspur has attracted the attention of other teams, and contrary to their transfer activity from the past couple of years, Pochettino's men are ready to fill one a void left by one of their key players that seems determined to leave the club.

Contract extension talks between Christian Eriksen and the North London club have stalled for quite some time, and with one year left in the player's contract, the Danish midfielder seems to be on his way out. With that in mind, Spurs' execs are ready to replace Eriksen with one player from the club that the Dane is allegedly in talks with: Real Madrid.

According to As and the Daily Mail, Eriksen's place in Pochettino's lineup will be covered by Dani Ceballos, the wantaway midfielder from Los Blancos. Ceballos has already been told he will not continue playing for Real Madrid, since he is surplus to the team's requirements under Zinedine Zidane.

Ceballos' exit from the Spanish outfit, via a transfer or a loan, would clear room for any of the signings being plotted by Florentino Pérez, which include Eriksen, Paul Pogba and Eden Hazard, to name a few.

Pochettino is well aware of the midfielder's capabilities, but he is willing to wait to make a move and try to lure the footballer away. According to As, the Argentine coach wants to sign Ceballos on a permanent transfer, and Real Madrid would be willing to transfer the 22-year-old if they can include a buyback clause in his deal.

The Spanish outlet also reveals that the footballer will try to solve his future before June 15, when the U-21 European championship begins. Ceballos will be included in that squad, and he decided to have no distractions during the competition. Either way, his transfer away from Real Madrid will surely attract some suitors, and it seems that Tottenham have made a first move to sign the footballer.
