Cristiano and Messi were obvious inclusions in the Swiss ace's list, but there was no room for Liverpool's top scorer this season.

On Tuesday, Xherdan Shaqiri could get a chance to face former club Bayern Munich in the Champions League when Liverpool hosts the German giant. However, the Swiss ace has made the headlines for reasons unrelated to today's game.

Ahead of the clash, the 27-year-old was asked to pick his dream starting eleven in an interview with German show Sport1 (as per the Metro). His World XI featured the likes of Cristiano, Messi, and Ramos as expected, but it was the players he snubbed that raised eyebrows.

The two-time Bundesliga winner named two Anfield team-mates in his lineup and they were Andy Robertson and Virgil Van Dijk. The Liverpool defenders completed the back four alongside Ramos and Carvajal, with Neuer, not Alisson, being named in goal.

In attack, Lewandowski was the chosen one for the number nine role, with Ronaldo and Leo on the wings. This means that there was no room for team-mate Mohamed Salah, who has been enjoying life in England for the past two seasons.

The Egyptian ace was brilliant for the Reds in his debut season, finishing as their top-scorer and winning the Premier League Golden Boot en route to a Champions League runner-up finish. The former Roma ace subsequently came third in the UEFA Player of the Year award and sixth in the Ballon d'Or.

Questions were asked earlier this season if Salah is just a one-season wonder but since then he has returned to the top of the goalscoring chart in the English top-flight. His performance in Europe has not been up to par but the Egyptian will be hoping to explode in Tuesday's clash with the Bundesliga champion.
