All the records achieved as Chelsea smash Norwich 7-0 in the Premier League

Chelsea took to the field in Matchweek 9 in the Premier League on Saturday, with the table-toppers hosting Norwich in the early kick-off. The Blues entered this clash with the eagerness to win—it would see them move further ahead in the table should Liverpool drop points at Man United—and win, they did.

Not only did Thomas Tuchel's side triumph, but the Blues completely obliterated their opposition, thrashing the Canaries 7-0. It did not take too long for the champions of Europe to break the deadlock, with Jorginho assisting Mason Mount for the opening goal after only eight minutes on the clock. Ten minutes later, the home side were two-nil up, with Hudson-Odoi finding the back of the net this time. Come the 42nd-minute, Chelsea were three-nil up, with Reece James giving them the huge advantage right before half-time.

Come the second-half, the Blues merely needed to see out the game, but the London giants kept on continuing, scoring another four goals. Ben Chilwell and a Max Aarons own-goal took the game to 6-0 before Mount added another two goals to complete his hat-trick.

This result saw Mount and Co. move four points ahead of closest rivals Liverpool, albeit temporarily. Furthermore, it saw the league leaders reach several excellent milestones.

First, Ben Chilwell achieved a lovely feat, having followed up on his brilliant winning goal against Brentford by getting on the scoresheet once more. As a result, he became the first Chelsea player in four successive Premier League appearances for the Blues since Eden Hazard (November 2016), and the first Englishman to do this since Frank Lampard (February 2013).

However, the former Leicester fullback was not the only Three Lions ace to enjoy this game as hat-trick hero Mason Mount became the 20th different player to pull off a three-goal haul for Chelsea, and the third youngest following Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham.

Then there was this excellent record set by the Stamford Bridge team. This was the 18th time Chelsea netted 6+ goals in a single Premier League game, a feat no other club has managed! Regardless, while this is impressive, it won't matter in the grand scheme of things as Tuchel's only goal is to win the English top-flight, which they appear to be on track to achieving.
