Les Parisiens look to bounce back from their subdued midweek performance in the UEFA Champions League when they host their bitter French rivals.

Preview

PSG and Lyon, two of the biggest teams in French football, are set to lock horns this weekend in Ligue 1 with the sole aim of securing bragging rights and the three points. This 2:45 p.m. ET encounter will take place at the Parc des Princes, meaning Les Gones will be fighting against the odds in their search for a win.

Les Parisiens are the only team who entered this round with a perfect record. Five wins out of five means Pochettino's men could move four points clear at the top once the matchday ends. This will require a victory over their rivals, which is doable, but this does not mean Mbappe and Co. have been without faults so far.

The French giants have conceded five goals so far, and while that is not horrible, it is a record in need of improvement as Lens (7) are the only other team in the top five to have shipped in more goals. However, what is most alarming is the lack of chemistry on the pitch, especially from their front three.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the partnership of Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe, with that attacking trio making their first outing over the midweek in the UEFA Champions League clash with Club Brugge. However, there was little to no improvement from when La Pulga and the Frenchman shared the pitch for around 30 minutes in the 2-0 victory over Reims.

Pochettino's star-studded front three struggled to get things going, with only a slimmer of chemistry showing between the two South Americans, which is understandable given their time together at Barcelona. After the game, which ended in a frustrating 1-1 draw for the Paris outfit, the manager called for patience, arguing that his forwards need time to click.

Lyon, on the other hand, endured a torrid start to the campaign, failing to win any of their opening three fixtures. However, Bosz's side look to have turned a corner, triumphing in their last three outings in a row, the most recent being a 2-0 victory over Scottish champions Rangers in the UEFA Europa League.

As a result, Les Gones have now climbed up to seventh and could move to fifth should they beat PSG – a few favorable results from their nearest rivals will also be required. Paquetá and Co. can draw inspiration from their excellent away form – more on that later – but will need to be at their best if they wish to overcome Pochettino's men. Do not miss this fixture!

Team news

PSG: Question marks linger over Kylian Mbappe after the Frenchman was forced off the pitch with an injury in the 1-1 draw with Club Brugge. Di Maria, however, will make his return while Gueye is also available after seeing out his suspension. Verratti, Ramos, Dagba, Kurzawa, and Bernat all remain sidelined.

Lyon: Damien Da Silva is back from suspension and will be keen on wrestling his starting XI spot from Jerome Boateng. Dembele, Kadewere, Mendes, and Dubois are all out.
