The Gunners are in need of a victory but the stats don't favor the north London giants winning at the Bridge.

Things have not been going well for Arsenal and it will only get trickier this midweek when they take on Chelsea in the Premier League. After yet another draw, the Gunners are only seven points ahead of the relegation zone ahead of their trip to Stamford Bridge.

Thus is the importance of this upcoming London derby. Unfortunately, the stats don’t back the north London giants recording an away win over the Blues.

The last time Arsenal visited Chelsea and recorded a win was way back in October 2011. Robin Van Persie grabbed a hat-trick in an eight-goal thriller which saw the Gunners win 5-3.

In fact, that is the north London giants on win at the Bridge in almost 12 years. One would have to go back to November 2008 for the away win preceding that unforgettable 5-3 triumph.

Arsenal, Chelsea, English Premier League

Since that 2008 triumph, Arsenal have made 11 league trips to the Blues and have won only once – the 5-3 thriller. The Emirates Stadium side have come away with eight defeats and have shared the points on two occasions.

Arteta’s side will need to put that horrendous form to bed. It is a new decade and there is no better time to turn things around. For Arsenal to do that, they will need nothing but a win.
