The Spanish goalie will not leave the English side by the end of the season after putting pen to paper to this new contract.

After a summer full of speculation, David De Gea has finally decided to extend his stay at Manchester United. But regardless of what you may think, it was not just a question of money.

The Spanish goalkeeper will see his stay at Old Trafford go on for the next four years, with an improved deal that will see the footballer earn over $468k weekly. There is one more clause that would see the 28-year-old shot-stopper extending his deal for five years instead of the initial four.

The Spaniard seemed to be on his way out of the English club, but according to his statements right after the deal was announced, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's influence had a lot to do in his decision.

"It's been a privilege to spend eight years at this great club and the opportunity to continue my career at Manchester United is a genuine honor," De Gea said.

The former Atlético footballer was close to leave the club to join Real Madrid in 2015, and he was also tempted by PSG during the past summer, but he decided to stay put to help the team rise to greatness again.
