The Spaniard had to be carted off the pitch and straight to an ambulance to undergo a battery of tests.

Real Madrid won their first pre-season game against Arsenal, but Los Blancos will have to pay a massive price for that win.

Playmaker Marco Asensio had to be carried out of the pitch on a stretcher after picking up a nasty knee injury that ended a scintillating performance by the Spaniard. Los Blancos were down 2-0 before Asensio stepped up to lead them back, having a huge influence on the first goal -scored by Bale- and scoring the other.

According to Zidane's words in the post-match press conference, Asensio was taken straight to the hospital, where the first tests confirmed the worst scenario imaginable.

"We are truly worried, it's his knee. He went straight to the hospital to have some tests, but by the look of it, I can't expect good news. It's the worst thing that happened to us today, our spirit is broken," Zidane said.

Asensio was seen by many as the man that would fight for a spot in Zidane's XI alongside Isco and Gareth Bale, but after tonight's injury, the player born in Mallorca might not be around for a while.
