The Argentine striker's situation with the nerazzurri seems to have reached a point of no return due to their unsuccessful contract extension talks.

The latest chapter in the contract negotiation saga between Inter Milan and Mauro Icardi can prompt fans to question the player's professionalism and commitment to his club.

The footballer has been left out of Inter's last games since he has failed to reach an agreement to extend his contract with the nerazzurri. Inter decided to strip the player from the captain's armband, but Icardi fought back by dropping himself from the squad that made the trip to face Rapid Wien in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League tie. Icardi missed a second straight game due to an alleged knee problem, but Inter was not willing to trust their player's word and forced the footballer to undergo a battery of tests.

The results for those tests came in today, and judging by the words chosen by Inter's medical staff, it seems that Icardi was lying about his affliction.

"This morning, Mauro Icardi underwent a scan at the Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Rozzano due to pain in the right knee. The scans didn't reveal significant changes compared to those performed before the start of the current season," the document published on the team's website revealed.

Coach Luciano Spalletti urged the player to solve any issues he has against the team face to face, rather than taking it to social media.

"These things can't be solved via chat or with 'likes' on social media. You need get together and talk about things to work them out," the coach added in the pre-match presser.

The striker's deal with Inter ends in 2021, but there are some who believe that the footballer will leave Inter next summer. Only time will tell if the nerazzurri given in to the player's contractual demands.
