Sunday was the final day of the 2021/22 Premier League season, with Crystal Palace wrapping up what has been an impressive debut campaign under new manager Patrick Vieira.

The Eagles finished 12th this season under the French icon, beating Manchester United on the final day to show that they are a team in ascendance. After the final whistle, the gaffer grabbed the mic and gave a speech to the passionate Palace fans, thanking them for their support as the curtain closed on this term.

Or at least he attempted to. As the Frenchman was speaking, a hilarious and brilliant chant broke out at Selhurt Park, sparking laughter from everyone at the stadium, with even the Arsenal legend appearing to chuckle a bit.

What exactly did the Palace match-goers chant? "He kicks who he wants, he kicks who he wants. Patrick Vieira, he kicks who he wants" was belted out at the ground before a thunder of laughter and claps erupted.

The punchline of this joke was in reference to Vieira's midweek altercation with an Everton fan during their trip to Goodison Park. After going 2-0 down, the Merseyside outfit pulled off a brilliant comeback, triumphing 3-2 to avoid relegation and secure another season in the Premier League.

The winning goal from Lampard's men sparked a pitch invasion from Evertonians and after the game ended, Vieira was met with an abusive fan while walking off the pitch. That supporter hurled abuse at the Frenchman and got in his face, sparking an angry response from the manager, who kicked out at the Evertonian before officials intervened to ensure the gaffer's safety and escort him down the tunnel.
