Frankfurt's unbeaten run comes to an end: It's said that all good things eventually come to an end, and that was the case for Eintracht Frankfurt's long-standing unbeaten record. Die Adler, who have vaulted up the table thanks to an impressive 11 match unbeaten run, finally succumbed to their first loss of 2021. Despite the in-form Andre Silva netting his 19th goal of the season, it wasn't enough to prevent Werder Bremen from snatching a vital win thanks to a game-winner from American striker Josh Sargent.

Mainz continue to shock observers: Prior to January 23, Mainz had won just one game all season and their prospects of escaping relegation seemed slim. However, since then, they've lost just two of their last five matches and close the gap on the teams occupying 15th (Hertha Berlin) and 16th (Arminia Bielefeld). More impressive, however, is the teams they've picked up points against during this recent kick. They've beaten RB Leipzig and Borussia Moenchengladbach, as well as Union Berlin, while holding Bayer Leverkusen to a draw. Despite losing to Augsburg, these positive results will certainly give them confidence ahead of their trip to face fellow relegation candidates Schalke on Friday.

Stuttgart keep firing in the goals: Although they haven't featured in the top flight for a couple years, Stuttgart have settled in quite nicely. Pellegrino Matarazzo's squad currently sit in a comfortable tenth place, and have scored an impressive 44 goals. That makes their attack the third-strongest in the Bundesliga and five of those goals came during last weekend's 5-1 demolition of Schalke. Notably, Japanese international Wataru Endo opened his account, scoring a brace, and being directly involved in two more. In doing so, he's the first player from his country to contribute to four goals in well over a decade.

Top Bundesliga matches: March 5-7, 2021

Schalke vs Mainz: The bottom two sides will go head to head in a crucial clash. Both teams, who sit in 18th and 17th respectively, are looking set to play their football in the 2.Bundesliga next term. However, Schalke, who have won just one match all season, and have earned a measly nine points, are in even more dire straits than Mainz, who have accumulated 17 points. Impressively, ten of those points have been picked up in just their last five matches, putting them in pole position to potentially haul themselves out of the drop zone.

Borussia M'gladbach vs Bayern Leverkusen: Both Gladbach and Leverkusen have taken a nosedive since 2021 rolled around. At one point, Peter Bosz's side were in the top four, and even briefly flirted with the table's summit. Meanwhile, Marco Roses's men were unbeaten through the month of January and beat both Bayern and Dortmund.

That has since changed. Gladbach have won only while Leverkusen have fared even worse - they've won just two of their last 14 across all comps and were recently dumped out of the Europa League after losing 6-3 on aggregate to Young Boys.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Stuttgart: This will be Frankfurt's first match following their shock 2-1 loss to Werder Bremen, and this upcoming tie could present a banana peel for Adi Hutter's side. Why? Because Stuttgart, who were promoted last season after finishing second in the 2.Bundesliga, actually have won more away games (six) than they have on home turf (two), so this could indeed be a tricky one as die Adler seek to re-discover their winning form.

Bayern vs Dortmund: Der Klassiker is always a highly-anticipated match for fans and neutrals alike. Unfortunately, this time around, Dortmund aren't among the teams looking to unseat Bayern are league champions, as die Schwarzgelben are closer to securing Champions League football than they are to catch die Roten. Still, given that this is a Klassiker tie, Dortmund will have even more motivation to try to get one over on Bayern after losing this year's two prior Klassiker matches.
