Eighteen UEFA Women’s Euro Qualifying games will be played on Tuesday, Dec. 1, as nations aim for qualify to Europe’s top international competition.

Several finals and play-off spots will be decided on Tuesday for the 2022 UEFA Women’s Euro as 36 national teams step on pitches across Europe.

The group winners and three runners-up with the best record against the teams that finish first, third, fourth and fifth in their groups will secure their tickets to England to play in the final tournament. The other six runners-up will compete in playoffs in April for the remaining three berths in the 16-team finals.

As of Nov. 30, Denmark, England (hosts), France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden have qualified for the competition, meaning that only nine spots remain open. Austria, Belgium, Iceland, Italy, Russia, Spain and Switzerland have already secured second-place finishes. On the other hand, Belarus, Czech Republic, Finland, Northern Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Ukraine and Wales will all be fighting to squeeze their way to a playoff spot.

Group A 

The Netherlands already qualified for the 2022 Euro and Russia will finish second. The Dutch will host Kosovo on Tuesday, while the Russians will travel to face Turkey. Russia will want to win its remaining two games to secure one of the three best runners-up automatic qualification and skip playoffs.

Group B

Italy will look to upset Denmark on Tuesday to raise its chances of qualifying to the Euro as one of the three best second-place teams. Last time out, Danish defeated Italy 3-1. The Italians will play Israel in their last game of the qualifying early in 2021.

Group C

Norway did not drop a single point throughout all the qualifiers and secured a spot for England 2022. However, Northern Ireland and Wales are still fighting for a playoff spot. Northern Ireland will secure the spot if they defeat bottom of the table the Faroe Islands on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Wales will aim to defeat Belarus and hope that Northern Ireland drops points. It will be a nail biter at last.

Group D

Spain beat Moldova 10-0 on Friday to secure a top-two finish and will qualify if they draw or beat Poland, or defeat Azerbaijan. On the other hand, Poland needs to beat Spain to win the group. If Poland loses, Czech Republic will chance to finish as a best runner-up if it beats Moldova.

Group E

One of the biggest matches on Tuesday will be Scotland hosting Finland. The Finnish can secure a first-place finish by defeating Scotland and then drawing or beating Portugal in a game that still has no date. Things might get messy on Tuesday.

Group F

Sweden beat Austria 3-0 on Friday, meaning that the Swedes secured their ticket to England. On the other hand, Iceland clinched a playoff spot after securing a 3-1 comeback against Slovakia. Furthermore, Iceland will look to close-out group play with an away win against Hungary.

Group G

Group G powerhouse France defeated second-place Austria 3-0 on Friday to secure qualification to the Euro. The Austrians drew the French in the first game of the group stages 0-0. France had not dropped points in a UEFA Women’s Euro or FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying round since 2007. Austria has proven to be a dark horse and will aim to defeat Serbia with hopes to be one of the three best second-place teams.

Group H

Switzerland and Belgium are confirmed as the top two nations in Group H. The two sides will play the group decider in Switzerland on Tuesday easily becoming the anticipated game of the matchday.

Like Norway, Germany has yet to drop points and qualified early as group winners.
