Los Blancos are reportedly in advanced talks as they look set to beat their bitter rival in the race for his services.

While Real Madrid has come up short in La Liga and Copa del Rey race to Barcelona, Los Blancos look set to beat out their bitter rival in a heated transfer race.

This is according to AS, with the Spanish news outlet reporting that the Madrid giant is the favorite to land Luka Jovic. The Serbian international has made a splash in Germany and in Europe as well, attracting a host of heavyweight suitors, but one club has now taken the lead.

The 21-year-old has scored 25 goals for Eintracht Frankfurt this season in all competitions and sits behind only Olivier Giroud in the Europa League Golden Boot race with his eight strikes. As a result, his Bundesliga employers turned his loan from Benfica into a permanent deal, activating the $6.7M purchase option.

Regardless, Frankfurt is reportedly ready to sell him for a profit and Real Madrid is said to be in advanced talks. Barcelona has been heavily linked with Jovic in their search for a potential successor to Luis Suarez, while Man City and Bayern have also shown interest, but it's Florentino Perez who appears destined to win.

His fee should cost somewhere between $56M to $67M, with 20% of that going to Benfica. Real Madrid has been linked with an array of talented strikers such as Icardi and Kane, but Jovic will be a cheaper option ahead of what should be a busy summer transfer window for the Spanish giant.
