Report: Cristiano Ronaldo eyes Manchester United exit

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly exploring the possibility of leaving Man Utd this summer despite having joined the club barely 12 months ago. The 37-year-old forward has asked the Red Devils to look into any bid that might arrive for him as looks set to to leave the Premier League giants this summer in order to play in the Champions League.

Less than a week ago, Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes sent shivers down the spine of Manchester United fans after reports emerged that the latter had met with new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly. The said encounter was purportedly on discussions about the possibility of the Portuguese superstar completing a sensational move to the London club despite only playing once season for the 13-time Premier League champions since his second coming.

However, United were quick to react, downplaying the news of an imminent exit for Cristiano Ronaldo. The club subsequently stated that they are not interested were sanctioning the sale of the former Juventus and Real Madrid star as they consider him as an integral member of new era under Erik ten Hag.

A report that emerged on Saturday evening has now added a new twist to the development and could cause the Manchester United hierarchy to reconsider their decision to hold onto Cristiano Ronaldo. According to the Times in UK, the 37-year-old forward feels it is time for him to leave the club and potentially join a club that will be playing in the UEFA Champions League, a competition his current side failed to qualify for. Again, the player is seemingly fed up with the lack of transfer activity at the club and believes that this directly translates to the lack of lack of ambition.

At the moment, Manchester United's stance about wanting Ronaldo to be there for the upcoming season remains although Jorge Mendes is expected to push for his clients sale in the coming days. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are reportedly considering making a swoop for the Portuguese superstar as the replacement for Robert Lewandowski should he depart for Barcelona this summer.
