Top games to watch in Matchweek 6 in Ligue 1

Lens vs Lille: This Saturday will see the return of the Derby du Nord as Lens prepare to reignite their rivalry with Lille, the defending champions of France. However, unlike last season where everything favored Les Dogues as they beat everyone, including PSG, to lift the French top-flight title, it is Sang et Or who boast the advantage.

Franck Haise's side are unbeaten in the league so far, having won two and drawn three of their opening five fixtures. Their tally of nine points means they are level with Nice – but behind solely due to goal difference – while trailing Marseille, Angers, and league leaders PSG. Lille, on the other hand, have endured an abysmal start to their title defense, picking up only five points from a possible 15 due to a solitary victory (D2, L2). Can the title holders turn things around this weekend? Tune in to find out.

Nice vs Monaco: Thought the aforementioned game was the only derby set to take place this weekend in Ligue 1? Think again as the latest edition of the Derby de la Cote d'Azur, a clash between Nice and Monaco, will take place on Sunday. Les Aiglons, under the helm of Christophe Galtier, the man who led Lille to the title last season, have been a force to be reckoned with so far. Nice have won all but one of their fixtures so far, with that sole slip-up ending in a draw, and they are yet to concede a single goal this term.

Monaco, on the other hand, have started the campaign on the wrong foot. One win, one draw, and three defeats from five games is not what Niko Kovac's side were hoping for. As a result, they sit in 16th, a point above the relegation zone, and will need to triumph in this derby if they wish to get their act together sooner rather than later.

PSG vs Olympique Lyonnais: This is the standout fixture of the upcoming Ligue 1 round. League leaders and title favorites PSG will host bitter rivals Lyon in their toughest test of the campaign so far. Pochettino's men have been flying high, winning every single game despite having not yet fileded Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe in one single domestic lineup. The Argentine, who made his first start in the 1-1 draw with Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League, will be looking to get his first goal involvement in what should be his first Ligue 1 start.

Lyon, on the other hand, sit in seventh with only two wins from their first five outings. Peter Bosz's side are currently on a three-game winning streak and will be keen on maintaining this run when they visit the Parc des Princes. Do not miss this tie!
