Unfortunately for Porto, that goal was not enough to send the game to extra time due to their 2-0 loss in the first leg.

Chelsea and Porto participated in quite a close quarterfinal tie, with Porto dominating most of the action but lacking accuracy in front of goal...until Mehdi Taremi stepped in to change that.

The Iranian striker, who ended a goalscoring drought in the league last weekend, scored one of the most beautiful goals in the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League with an impressive overhead kick, which ended going into Edouard Mendy's top left-hand corner. Even if the goal was useless for Porto's chances, it will be remembered as one of the best goals that were scored this season.

If that was not enough reason to be proud, Taremi became the first Iranian footballer to score a goal in this stage of the tournament. Even if the goal proved to be futile, fans will look back at it fondly for the effort and the beauty of the goal.
