Man City announced this tragic news on social media.

Many have lost loved ones due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and Pep Guardiola is the latest to suffer from this tragedy. Man City announced that the Spanish tactician has sadly lost his mother to COVID-19 in his home city of Barcelona.

The Citizens announced her tragic passing away on social media while expressing their deepest condolences to the Spanish manager. Pep's mother, Dolors Sala Carrió, was aged 82.

"The Manchester City family are devastated to report the death today of Pep's mother Dolors Sala Carrió in Manresa, Barcelona after contracting Corona Virus. She was 82-years-old," the Citizens wrote on Twitter.

"Everyone associated with the club sends their most heartfelt sympathy at this most distressing time to Pep, his family and all their friends," the Premier League giants added.

Carrió was a mother of four, raising the former Barcelona midfielder, his two sisters, and his younger brother who is an agent. This tragedy comes a week after the 49-year-old donated just over $1M to help the fight against coronavirus in Spain, one of the worst-hit countries in the world.

The football world united in sending their condolences to the Man City boss. Local and European rivals, former players, and journalists all took to social media to pay their regards to Guardiola during this difficult time.
