The former Manchester United defender was on target for the league leaders in Sunday's classic encounter with Lazio.

Football fans on Twiiter have been bewildered after Ashely Young's managed to get on the scoresheet in Sunday's epic Serie A clash between Lazio and Inter Milan. The 34-year-old English defender grabbed his first-ever goal for the Nerrazzuri to put his side in the lead with an all important three-point at stake.

Prior to grabbing the night's first goal, Young had not scored in any competition since February 2019. However, he had shown his attacking acumen even more since arriving in Milan from Manchester United in previous outings with the most notable being his assist for Lautaro Martinez's goal in his Serie A debut against Cagliari.

Against Lazio on Sunday, the England international was rightly placed to smash home a half-volley from close range after Lazio goalie Thomas Strakosha had punched out Antiono Candreva's long-range effort. Watch the goal below:

As thing stands, Young has had a hand in two goals since arriving at Inter Milan, more than he managed for Manchester United prior to his switch this season. Also, the night's goal saw at Lazio saw him become only the fourth English player Jay Bothroyd (5), David Beckham (2) and Chris Smalling (2) to score in the Serie A in the 21st century.
