Preview: Atalanta vs Juventus

Juventus may be on top of Serie A, but they will have to be on top of their game when they restart their domestic campaign against Atalanta on Saturday. Although La Dea have struggled in their debut Champions League season, they have been fairly solid in the league and actually boast the strongest attack after the first 12 rounds. The hosts come into this game having had some issues, namely a draw relegation-threatened Sampdoria who parked the bus to maximum effect to grind out a stalemate and a surprise loss to a high-flying Cagliari side who have been on a tear lately and still are managing to cling onto a top four spot.

That being said, Sampdoria now have a new manager on the bench, and since Claudio Ranieri took over, they have been slowly working their way up the table. Atalanta, meanwhile, have proven to be a thorn in Juve's side recently. They notably knocked the Bianconeri out of the Coppa Italia earlier this year after a stunning 3-0 victory and managed to secure draws against the Scudetto holders, despite going down to ten men on both occasions.

However, Juve haven't lost to Atalanta since February 2001, and since then have won 23 times against La Dea. They will be able to welcome back several of their key players, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Miralem Pjanic, with CR7 in particular enjoying a strong showing over the international break with Portugal, so Atlanta's dodgy defense could be in for some major questions on Saturday.

Team news: Atalanta vs Juventus

Atalanta: Both Josip Ilicic and Ruslan Malinovskiy are suspended for this game. In addition, Remo Freuler is a doubt for this game after suffering a knock whilst on international duty and key striker Duvan Zapata has returned to training but isn't likely to feature from the start.

Juventus: The visitors have been given a major boost thanks to the return of Cristiano Ronaldo, Blaise Matuidi and Miralem Pjanic ahead of this clash. However, Giorgio Chiellini remains a long-term absentee, while Alex Sandro also expected to miss this game after picking up an injury during the international hiatus.
