Security has been stepped up after this reported threat on the Inter Milan boss.

According to reports coming out of Italy, Antonio Conte has been put under police protection after receiving an envelope containing a bullet and a threatening letter.

As revealed by Corriere della Sera, security has been stepped up to protect the Inter Milan boss and his family after this incident, with the police entering to find the culprit. The letter will reportedly be tested for fingerprints as officials look to get to the bottom of this threat.

There is a belief that this is merely a letter from an attention seeker, the club and officials aren’t taking any risks. Video surveillance from the former Chelsea tactician’s house and the Nerazzurri’s training ground is being analyzed.

Antonio returned to Serie A back in May and has begun life at Inter Milan extremely well, with Lukaku and Co. trailing reigning champions and league leaders Juventus by a single point. However, Conte’s safety is now their biggest concern and the Italian giants will have to take precautions given that the threat could be real.

This follows an incident near the beginning of the Premier League season in which Arsenal stars Mesut Ozil and Saeed Kolasinac were attacked by two knife-wielding carjackers in the street. The pair were subsequently left out of the squad for security reasons but losing a manager for similar reasons will be more costly.
