Talking points ahead of matchday three

How will PSG recover after shock defeat on matchday two?

It's still early on, but fans are already buzzing after PSG suffered their first loss last weekend. Although they scored in that game - and set a record for netting in the most consecutive matches in the top flight (40) - it was a hollow result as Thomas Tuchel's men were stunned to be on the wrong end of a 2-1 score line.

No French team has ever gone a season undefeated, but if anyone had a realistic chance in doing it, it was Les Parisiens.

Well, that opportunity has already sailed, as Rennes seem to be shaping up to be a bogey side for the French champions. Last season, it was Strasbourg, and this season, it could end up being Rennes.

Last month, the two sides faced off in the French Super Cup, and PSG got revenge for their loss in the Coupe de France by beating them 2-1 in China. Rennes then returned the favor last weekend and now sit in a very impressive third place having won their first two games, while Tuchel will be hoping to see a reaction from his team as they welcome Toulouse to the Parc des Princes.

It's still early, but Monaco are already struggling. Can they pick up a win against newly promoted Nimes to get their season back on track?

Unfortunately for Monaco, their problems from last season don't seem to have abated. Les Rouges-et-Blancs are still seeking their first win, and injuries continue to pile up as now skipper Radamel Falcao could be out for their upcoming clash against newly promoted Nimes due to a knock. Not only are Monaco chasing their first victory, they are also hoping to score their first goal, having conceded six so far in just two games and are sitting bottom of the table. Last season saw them barely escape relegation - will they be so lucky this time around?
