The English teenager is one of the hottest young prospects in world football and could be set for a return to England.

According to the latest reports, Premier League giants Man United and Man City have been put on alert as Jadon Sancho is reportedly set to leave Dortmund next summer.

The English youngster rose to prominence last season. The 19-year-old played a key member in BVB’s entertaining attacking side, thus attracting attention from several English top-flight heavyweights. He is currently under contract at the Signal Iduna Park until 2022 but the Daily Mail claim he is set to bid farewell next summer.

His Bundesliga employers are already aware of this. They know it will be an uphill battle to keep hold of him and have thus begun the search for his replacement.

While the article did not name a particular club as his next destination, everything points to a return to his home country. The Red Devils and the Citizens are also tipped as the favorites to land Sancho, who will likely cost over £100M ($121.5M).

Man United are reportedly ahead of Guardiola’s side. The 20-time Premier League champions were eyeing a move for the teenager during the recent summer transfer window and having “completed plenty of the groundwork”, they are in a better position than Man City.

The Citizens, however, being Sancho’s previous employers prior to his move to Germany, inserted a clause in his contract with Dortmund that allows them the opportunity to match any offer made for the winger. Whether Guardiola’s side will do this remains unknown but given the uncertainty surrounding Leroy Sane, the Spaniard might jump at the opportunity to bring back Sancho.
