The Gunners and the Bavarians will lock horns in one of the most anticipated games of this pre-season competition. Check out our match preview for more info.

How have Arsenal and Bayern Munich fared in the pre-season so far?

Both sides enter this game on the back of one pre-season friendly. For the Gunners, their game saw them lock horns with Colorado Rapids, another club owned by the unpopular billionaire Stan Kroenke. For the Gunners, it was a pretty straight-forward affair. The north London giants earned a convincing 3-0, with many of their young players starting the game before the senior stars were brought in to entertain the crowd.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, did not enjoy the greatest of games. While the Bavarians ended last season in spectacular fashion, beating RB Leipzig 3-0 in the DFB Pokal final to secure the domestic double, the German giants began their pre-season with a disappointing 1-1 draw with Kaiserslautern.

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich head-to-head record

The Gunners have suffered embarrassment after embarrassment at the hands of the Bundesliga champions. The 10-2 aggregate Champions League defeat to the Germans immediately comes to mind. However, despite the inferior head-to-head record, their last encounter was in this very tournament and the Premier League giants won that 2017 International Champions Cup encounter on penalties.

Teams news

Both sides are without a few key names, but the summer continental tournaments have been kinder to Bayern Munich. Alex Iwobi and Mohamed Elneny are not present due to their participation in the Africa Cup of Nations while Emery will be without his main captain Laurent Koscielny after the Frenchman shockingly refused to travel to the USA for pre-season, leading to a rift with his employers. The likes of Aubameyang, Ozil, and Lacazette are all in the squad.

Only eight U19 players have made Kovac's squad, with the manager being able to bring along 19 first-team men. Alphonso Davies ended his holiday earlier than expected to join the squad but Lucas Hernandez was left at home to continue his recovery from a knee injury. Benjamin Pavard is available for the Bavarians, alongside star names Robert Lewandowski and Manuel Neuer.
