Copa America 2019: How to watch Argentina vs Paraguay live on June 19, 2019

What is the form of Argentina compared to Paraguay?

Argentina began the Copa America as one of the favorites to win the title, but they will be heading into this game on the back of a defeat in their opening game. The 2-0 loss to Colombia will weigh heavily on their minds. That was their third defeat from their last seven games, winning the remaining.

As for Paraguay, they boast only one win from their last nine games. Of the remaining eight games, five ended in defeat while three were draws, with Guatemala being the only opposition they overcame.

Argentina vs Paraguay head-to-head

La Albiceleste is without a win in their last two encounters with Los Guaraníes La Albirroja. Their most recent encounter ended in a 1-0 defeat for Argentina while the one before that was a goalless draw. Nonetheless, the two-time World Cup champions still boast a superior head-to-head record.

Games played: 106

Argentina wins: 58

Paraguay wins: 16

Draws: 32

Team news

While Argentina has no injury concerns, Scaloni will have tough decisions to make when selecting his lineup. After the abysmal performance against Colombia, the boss will be contemplating dropping some of his underperformers. Two stars who could be dropped are Sergio Aguero and Angel Di Maria.

The PSG playmaker was taken off at half-time while Aguero was replaced later on in the game. Lautaro Martinez will be pushing for a start while goalscoring midfielder Roberto Pereyra could be given a nod. Paulo Dybala is another shout, as La Albiceleste failed to seriously threaten Colombia's goal but incorporating him into the lineup has been a challenge.

After coming off the bench to score against Qatar in their opening game, Gonzalez will be vying for a start. The fact that he scored the winning goal in their last encounter with Argentina is an added bonus.

Preview

The question everyone is asking is can Argentina bounce back? In their opening game against Colombia, defensive frailties were blatant for the naked eye to see and Scaloni's men were outrun in midfield. Things improved in the second half after Di Maria was taken off but the South American giant struggled to create clear goalscoring opportunities.

Lionel Messi cut a frustrated figure but Scaloni knows he must get things right in the second game or risk an embarrassment. A defeat would all but put an automatic qualification spot out of reach for La Albiceleste -- Colombia will likely beat Qatar to reach six points and Paraguay would have four with only one round remaining.

After their embarrassing 2018 World Cup campaign, Argentina knew that had to make amends at Brazil 2019. However, things did not get off to a great start but their campaign can still be salvaged.

As mentioned earlier, the gaffer might drop Aguero and Di Maria as they did not offer much in that 2-0 defeat. The question is who would be the most suitable players to partner Leo? Lautaro Martinez scored a brace in a friendly win over Nicaragua while Dybala remains an undeniable talent.

As for Paraguay, they threw away a 2-0 to draw with Qatar. However, having watched Argentina's loss to Colombia, they should be confident of upsetting Messi and Co. Do not miss this showdown.
