The Colombian forward could complete a switch to the Serie A in the coming days.

Italian Serie A outfit Napoli is reportedly close to completing a deal with Real Madrid for James Rodriguez. The midfielder is expected to depart from Los Blancos this summer after returning from a two-year loan spell with Bayern Munich.

Despite impressing in his spell with the Bavarians, reports indicate that Rodriguez is still not part of Zinedine Zidane's plans. As such, a move away is the only remedy for the Colombian with Real Madrid's summer overhaul well and truly underway.

Recent reports indicated that Los Blancos are willing to allow the 27-year-old playmaker to join Napoli on loan. According to Sky Sport's Gianluca DiMarzio, a deal is now close and the Partenopei has an option to purchase the attacker for 30 million euros in the future.

James Rodriguez's agent Jorge Mendes is expected to be in Madrid in the coming days to finalize the move. The rest of the negotiation are expected to be formalities as the midfielder has already expressed interest to play under his former boss Carlo Ancelotti once again.

With injuries hampering his spell with Bayern Munich, the Colombian forward amassed 15 goals in 67 appearances, winning two Bundesligas and one DFB Pokal title. At Real Madrid, his goal tally stands at 36 in 111 outings and the former FC Porto star has won two Champions League, two UEFA Super Cups, two Club World Cups and one La Liga title with the Santiago Bernabeu club.
