Cristiano Ronaldo snubs Real Madrid in Globe Soccer Awards' acceptance speech

Saying that Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo did not end in the best terms would be an understatement, but this latest "gem" by the Portuguese ace left no doubt about CR7's true feelings against his former employers.

The player made an appearance at the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards, where he picked up the Best Goal and Best Player awards. During his acceptance speech for the latter, the footballer looked back at how he earned quite a few individual trophies and his desire to win more titles with Juventus. But when it came to mentioning Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo decided to change the subject.

"2018 was a tough year, but I managed to win many trophies, like the (UEFA) Champions League, and it was amazing. What happened in 2018 is now in the past, I'm a person that is motivated by new challenges, and I dream about winning many trophies with my new team, Juventus. I plan on winning as many trophies as I can with them," CR7 said.

The Portuguese footballer also aimed a dig at FIFA's execs that decided to snub his goal in favor of Mohamed Salah's strike for the Puskas Award. According to Ronaldo, the decision could have been different if FIFA's execs "knew more about football."

"I see that those who understand this sport realize how hard it is to score a goal such as this one. I have scored nearly 700 goals in my career, and that one is by far the best. The only downside is that I scored it against my current team,"CR7 added.

The gala saw Atlético being named the Best team in the world and Didier Deschamps taking home the Best Coach award.
