Apparently, Lionel Messi and the rest of Barcelona's heavyweights want a managerial change to take place.

Ernesto Valverde has been stalling talks to extend his contract with Barcelona, but the club has already made up its mind and decided where they want to go from here, according to a report by Spanish website Don Balón.

The relationship between Valverde and the team's leaders is not the best, mainly due to his lack of improvisation skills and his desire to keep playing with the same lineup. A number of disciplinary issues, such as Ousmane Dembelé's recent behavior, have added to the list of issues that Barcelona's execs have questioned, keeping them from trying to tie the coach for one more season at the helm.

Valverde's contract negotiations had started last summer, but the coach seemed uninterested in extending his deal with Los Blaugranas, mainly because he knows that some of his players -such as Messi- are not satisfied with his handling of the team's squad.

Despite their intentions, Barcelona's footballers have agreed to fight for every possible title this season, so that the former Athletic Club coach can leave the team's dugout on a high note. Let's wait and see if Los Blaugranas can add at least one more title to their resume under Valverde by the end of the season, in order to give their boss a proper farewell.
