The Indomitable Lions, one of the favorites for the title, will resume their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations campaign today, as will Gambia, the tournament's surprise package.

Yesterday saw the round of 16 in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations kick off, with two knockout stage games taking place on Sunday. Both showdowns saw a team get a red card, as Gabon were reduced to 10 men in their clash with Burkina Faso, which they eventually lost on penalties after a 1-1 draw, while Alex Iwobi was sent off for Nigeria in their 1-0 defeat to Tunisia, sending the Super Eagles crashing out of the tournament.

The action continues on Monday, with another two matches also set to take place. The first tie is scheduled to go down at 11 a.m. ET, with Guinea taking to the field in an interesting clash with Gambia. After that is the 2 p.m. ET tie, with the mighty Cameroon, led by the tournament's top scorer Vincent Aboubakar, returning to action.

Who will join Burkina Faso and Tunisia in the quarterfinals? What do their squads look like ahead of the round of 16? Here's everything you need to know about today's 2021 Africa Cup of Nations games.

How did Monday's teams make it to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16?

Guinea: Syli National secured qualification after finishing in second in Group B, only one point behind table-toppers Senegal. However, Guinea were close to coming in third, with Malawi just missing out on the runners-up spot due to their inferior head-to-head record. Keita and Co. started things off well, beating Malawi, but ended on a terrible note, losing to bottom-of-the-table Zimbabwe.

Gambia: The Scorpions have been one of the surprise packages, coming narrowly close to winning Group F ahead of Mali. Gambia racked up seven points, the same as Bissouma and Co., but missed out due to an inferior goal difference. The Africa Cup of Nations debutants beat both Mauritania and, more surprisingly, Tunisia and will now be looking to make it to the quarterfinals.

Cameroon: The Indomitable Lions' path to the round of 16 was straight forward. Two wins and a draw from their three group stage fixtures was enough to secure progression. Cameroon finished with seven points, four clear of second-placed Burkina Faso, and will now be aiming to move on to the last eight.

Comoros: Les Coelacantes' progression was extremely fortunate. Comoros lost all but one of their group stage fixtures, with that sole victory coming in the third and final matchday, securing a shocking 3-2 win over continental giants Ghana. That result earned them a spot in the top four best third-placed teams, albeit the worst of those four.

What are the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 games to watch on January 24, 2022?

Guinea vs Gambia: A spot in the quarterfinals is up for grabs in this tie as the 1976 runners-up look to beat this year's debutants. Guinea's last outing, a 2-1 loss to Zimbabwe, was a worrying performance from the Syli National as goals from Musona and Mahachi condemned them to defeat. Gambia, on the other hand, enjoyed a jubilant end to the group stage, beating Tunisia 1-0 thanks to a 93rd-minute winner from Ablie Jallow. The Scorpions, given that this is their first appearance in Africa Cup of Nations history, have no experience in the knockout stage. Will the pressure get to them or can Tom Saintfiet's men keep the momentum going and reach the last eight? Tune in to find out.

Cameroon vs Comoros: The Indomitable Lions are one of the favorites for the tournament, and given that Comoros qualified for the knockout stage by the skin of their teeth, one would expect Cameroon to ease past their opposition en route to the quarterfinals. However, this edition of the Africa Cup of Nations has proven that heavyweight status amounts for nothing. Ghana and defending champions Algeria crashed out in the group stage while many expected Nigeria to beat Tunisia in the round of 16. Cameroon boast the tournament's top scorer, with Vincent Aboubakar's tally of three goals being the best so far. Toni Conceicao's side, being the host nation, will be playing in front of their home fans and should thus enter this tie with all the confidence in the world.

Who's in and who's out?

Cameroon: They have a fully-fit squad
