Los Blaugranas need to win their game against Die Roten to secure their spot in the next round, and things seem to be going their way prior to Wednesday's kickoff.

Barcelona's trip to face Bayern on Matchday 6 of the UEFA Champions League seemed destined to end in tragedy, but in the last couple of hours, Los Blaugranas have been given a lifeline for their crucial clash against the Bavarian side.

Los Blaugranas need to win their game to avoid deciding the remaining ticket for the next round in a tiebreaker with Benfica, which they would lose due to the Eagles' 3-0 win against them on Matchday 2. Now, thanks to Bayern's string of injuries and poor handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, things seem to be going their way.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference. Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann confirmed that the team will not have some of their key players for the key matchup this Wednesday.

"(Leon) Goretzka was not able to finish training and he will not be available. The same goes for (Serge) Gnabry and (Eric) Choupo-Moting. (Joshua) Kimmich will not be avaulable since he will take the PCR test to end his quarantine period. Lucas (Hernández) is lookinh good, we will see if he is an option to start considering his relevance, but also with our mind on next weekend's game," Nagelsmann said.

The German tactician admitted that Barcelona's need to win the game could work in their favor, but the main thing for him will be to try and make his team win the match on their own terms.

"Barcelona are still a great team and a title contender if you ask me. I know they are under pressure and that they need a certain result against us to move forward. I think it's good for use that they need to go out there and win. Nevertheless, our main focus is our ambition to win every game we play," the coach added.

Before the interview concluded, Nagelsmann sent a message to those who believed he would rest some of his players for this game, which would certainly make things easier for Los Blaugranas.

"I want to say hi to everyone in Lisbon, I want them to be sure that we will go out there with the best team at our disposal," Nagelsmann concluded.
