The Red Devils have lost Rashford to an unfortunate injury and are in search for a short-term fix.

Man United are in the midst of a crisis in the attacking department given the recent injury to Marcus Rashford. The Red Devils were in need of a striker prior to the Englishman's injury and are in a desperate search for a forward after losing their top scorer to a lengthy layoff.

After missing out on Erling Braut Haaland to Dortmund and losing ground on AC Milan's Piatek to Tottenham, the Red Devils have reportedly turned their attentions elsewhere. Unfortunately, the man they have inquired about will not inspire the fans.

According to the Daily Mail, it is none other than Islam Slimani. The British news outlet claim that the Premier League giants have asked about the Algerian attacker's availability, with the aim being to acquire him on loan as a short-term fix.

The 31-year-old currently plies his trade in Ligue 1 for Monaco but is only there on loan from Leicester City. The Algerian joined the Foxes back in 2016 and despite failing to impress at the King Power Stadium, he remains on their book.

Slimani endured disappointing spells at Newcastle, where he failed to score a single goal, and Fenerbahce before moving to France. At Monaco, he is averaging a goal every other game, scoring seven in 14 appearances, but has played a bit-part role so far.

Leicester a $5M fee be paid by Man United to sign the attacker on loan until the summer. The Daily Mail failed to mention whether this is a figure the club is keen or reluctant to fork out.

Man United fans are unlikely to be pleased with this rumor. Furthermore, the fact that their club's pursuit of Bruno Fernandes has stalled would only add fuel to the fire that is their dismay with the board and the leadership.
