The deal will see top teams such as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atlético playing competitive games in U.S. soil to promote the sport in North America.

La Liga is determined to make an impact in North America, and their new deal will guarantee at least one competitive match being played in a stadium inside the U.S. for the next 15 years.

The Spanish top flight has announced their partnership with Relevent, the company behind the International Champions Cup. Both entities have created LaLiga North America, which will be an independent organisation in charge of promoting the "growth" of Spanish football in the U.S. and Canada.

Added to the annual La Liga game being played in U.S. soil, LaLiga North America will also handle all the Spanish top flight's consumer-related activities, such as exhibition matches, consumer activations, youth academies and the purposed competitive match.

"Relevent has filled stadiums across the USA with the International Champions Cup, we're thrilled to partner with them on a joint mission to grow football in North America," LaLiga president Javier Tebas stated after the announcement.

Details about the official game being played in the U.S. will be revealed shortly, once La Liga execs detail the full plan to all the top flight teams.

The decision has been criticized by the Spanish Footballers' Association, since the entity believes that La Liga is only interested in making a profit without considering the players' thoughts on the matter.
