Premier League: Where to watch West Ham vs Manchester United live on September 19, 2021

Preview

Manchester United will be eager to put their calamitous start to the UEFA Champions League behind them when they travel to London for Sunday's encounter with West Ham United. An impressive start to their first group game of the season against Young Boys ended up on a rather bad note with the Red Devils collapsing at the death and letting the three points slip through their hands. Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring for the Old Trafford outfit but a red card to Aaron Wan-Bissaka and a Jesse Lingard's misplaced back-pass paved the way for their Swiss nemisis to capitalize on the situation and cruise to a crucial win after cancelling out the opener earlier.

Against this backdrop, United saw an unbeaten run of four games coming to an end but will hope to keep the streak going when they are hosted by West Ham. Aside from their 1-1 draw with Southampton, they have registered wins against Leeds United, Wolves and Newcastle United. Within the period, they have scored 11 goals and have conceded just three, with only Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea possessing a better record.

Over the years, meetings with West Ham United have often come with their surprises but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men will hope that this is a one off. Of the last four league meetings between the pair, the Old Trafford club has failed to record wins in two of the fixtures. Needless to say, the back-to-back wins they managed in the two most-recent clashes gives a lot of room for optimism.

For West Ham, an impressive start to the season saw them momentarily occupying the top-spot. This came after they put together two consecutive wins in their opening two fixtures before the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace and the 0-0 scoreline against Leicester City. Despite their plight, the team still rank among the top-10 and will be keen on upsetting their rivals from Manchester.

David Moyes' men proved to be a force to reckon with in mid-week, beating GNK Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 in their own backyard in Croatia. As a result, they extended their unbeaten streak to 16 in competive matches and will hope to add to it by delivering a masterful performance against Manchester United on Sunday.

Team News

The biggest talking point ahead of the game has been the absence of West Ham's in-form striker Michail Antonio. The England international picked up a straight red card in the 0-0 draw with Southampton last weekend. Aside him, West Ham do not have any notable absentees to worry about.

For Man United, Marcus Rashford returned to training this week and has stepped up his recovery from a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, Amad Diallo and Edinson Cavani will still be unavailable for selection as they battle respective ailments.

Predicted starting XI

  • West Ham United: Fabianski; Dawson, Zouma, Ogbonna; Coufal, Rice, Soucek, Cresswell; Fornals, Bowen, Benrahma.

  • Manchester United: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Pogba; Greenwood, Fernandes, Sancho; Ronaldo.
