Morata and Co. are yet to win a game in the tournament and thus need a win in order to progress. Here's a preview of Slovakia vs Spain.

Preview

In the final round of fixtures in Group E, European giants Spain will be taking on Slovakia in an interesting and crucial showdown. Despite being one of the favorites for the tournament, things have not unfolded well for La Furia Roja, with this 12 p.m. ET clash set to decide whether they progress to the next round or suffer from early elimination.

Having impressed in the latest edition of the UEFA Nations League, many expected Luis Enrique's men to carry their form over to the European Championship. However, after playing two games, Morata and Co. are yet to win a single game, picking up a mere two points courtesy of back-to-back draws.

The opening fixture was a showdown with Sweden, which was always going to be a tricky affair. Despite this, not many predicted a drab goalless draw from the 2010 World Cup winners, with Enrique's side missing the few opportunities they had to break the deadlock against Blågult.

Alvaro Morata received tons of criticism for that slip-up as the Juventus ace was guilty of squandering his nation's best chances. After receiving public backing from Enrique, the former Real Madrid man showed his deadliness inside the box in the second game, scoring in the first half of their clash with Poland.

However, there was little to no improvement with Spain's overall performance, with clear-cut goalscoring chances being few and far between. Robert Lewandowski's 54th-minute equalizer saw the Polish share the spoils, leaving La Furia Roja in a dangerous position, sitting in third ahead of their third and final group-stage fixture.

Morata and Co. know that victory on Wednesday is enough to secure them progression to the last 16. Should Poland win their final game against Sweden and the Spanish slip up, an embarrassing group stage exit will be their fate. Slovakia began the tournament on a high, winning their opening tie 2-1. However, they are reeling from their 1-0 round two defeat against Sweden and will also be fighting for their lives on the final day. Do not miss this fixture.

Spain: Busquets has recovered from COVID-19 and could return to the lineup. Ferran Torres will be hoping to return to the lineup as Enrique looks for inspiration in attack, but whether the Man City man will replace Gerard Moreno remains uncertain.
