The Blaugrana boss failed to hand in his resignation after the woeful defeat, forcing the club to take matters into their own hands.

Barcelona's future seems gloomy under Quique Setién, and the coach's lack of self-respect after a baffling 8-2 loss saw him clinging to his spot as Blaugrana tactician. Fortunately for the team's supporters, the club seems determined to change that and will finally make a decision on the Spanish coach's future.

According to reports by Sky Sport journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona's board led by Josep Maria Bartomeu has decided not to have Setién around for next season. The lack of spirit shown by the team, the poor form shown by the club under Setién and the baffling result against Bayern have forced the board's hand.

In the post-match interview, Setién failed to make a decision about his future, stating that the club should not rush into any judgement after such a heavy defeat. "It's too soon to be thinking about my future. It's not up to me, we have to look into our hearts and admit what could happen after such a humiliating and painful loss,"Setién stated.

The report by Fabrizio Romano has seemingly been confirmed by Josep María Bartomeu in a post-match interview.

"I'm not going to say what measures we will take, because some of them had already been decided. Today should be a day to think about what happened, and we will try to pick up the pieces tomorrow. We will announce what we will do next week," Bartomeu stated moments after refusing to commit Quique Setién's future to the Blaugrana side.
