Premier League's secret plan to give Liverpool the title revealed

Liverpool came really close to lifting the Premier League title, but the ongoing coronavirus pandemic prevented that from happening even though league execs were ready to fast-track that process.

A report by the Mirror claims that Premier League authorities had developed a plan to hand the Reds the title in case they were forced to suspend the title race.

Such plan was supposed to be set in motion on March 21 if Liverpool won their games against Everton and Crystal Palace. Those wins would have made their lead at the top unbeatable, and their title celebrations would have been allowed by EPL execs even if there were two months left to see the end of the competition.

Liverpool is 25 points ahead of Manchester City in the 2019-20 season, and while there is no clear indication on when the Premier League will resume, the chances of hosting a massive title celebration with fans at Anfield may not be possible, since the current plan would see all EPL games being played behind closed doors.

Only time will tell when Liverpool will be able to lift the title in what has been a historical campaign for every possible reason. Nevertheless, Klopp and Co. will surely want to wait for all their fans to be present to celebrate their first league title in over 30 years, something that could not be possible under the current restrictions in the U.K.
