SoccerWire will measure the competitiveness of U13-19 teams across the nation using an algorithm along with other important factors like recent U.S. Youth National Team call-ups. Another factor that impacts the ranking process is the club’s ability to produce high volumes of professional and college players.
The website will update the boys’ list on the second Wednesday of each month, and the girls’ list on the third Wednesday. And at the end of the year, the lists will be compiled to create a Top-100 list for the year 2020 – for boys and girls.
We decided to give the list a tweak by breaking it down by states to see which ones possess the best youth clubs in the nation.
California is the state with the most clubs as expected with 22 followed by Texas (10), Missouri, New York, and Ohio (5), Massachusetts and Virginia (3).
Surprisingly enough, there is not an NWSL team in the state of California. It is a topic of conversation that has been talked about before. Why does the state that produces most of the talent in the USA not have an NWSL franchise? Well, LAFC part-owner Mia Hamm has hinted about the possibility of the L.A. based club creating a women’s team.
Nonetheless, this ranking will fluctuate throughout the year with a final update that will show which teams were the best in the nation during 2020.
