The teenage star has attained another landmark in the European competition.

Atletico Madrid youngster Joao Felix has landed himself in the history books for the role he played in Wednesday night's win over Lokomotiv Moscow. The 19-year-old striker scored from the penalty spot to become the second youngest player to score a penalty kick in the Champions League for a Spanish team.

The night's clash started off with Atletico winning a spot-kick inside the first 120 second after kick-off. However, former Tottenham Hotspur full-back Kieran Trippier stepped up and rattled the crossbar with his attempt. The scenario also served up the precedent for more impending drama as 15 minutes minute later, the 29-yeaar-old vindicated himself by winning another penalty for the hosts.

This time, Felix was handed the mandate to do due diligence and the former Benfica star fired Simeone's men in front from the spot. He subsequently become the first teenager and the second youngest player (20 years & 31 days) after former Barca prodigy Bojan Krkić to net a Champions League penalty for a Spanish team.

The latter secured the landmark by scoring for Barcelona Barcelona against Sporting CP in November 2008 at the age of 18 year and 90 days. After Felix's goal, Alvaro Morata had a goal overturned by the VAR in the 28th minute. A goal by Felipe in the 54th minute consolidated the host's lead and fired them to the Last 16 stage for the sixth time under Diego Simeone.
