What is the form of Arsenal compared to Southampton?

Arsenal are in atrocious form as of late, failing to win any of their last five games in all competitions (D3, L2). The Gunners have won only once in their last seven outings and have enjoyed only six victories from their last 16 games, losing four and drawing six.

Southampton haven’t fared all too well themselves. They head into this game on the back of a four-match losing streak, conceding a whopping 16 times along the way. Furthermore, the Saints are winless in their last seven games and have tasted only four victories in their last 15 fixtures.

Arsenal have lost only once in their last six encounters with Southampton. Furthermore, the Saints boast only five wins over the Gunners in the 2010s decade but could make it six on Saturday. They beat the north London giants 3-2 at the St. Mary’s Stadium last season but their last victory at the Emirates Stadium was a 2-0 League Cup triumph back in November 2016.

Team news

This game looks to come too soon for Dani Ceballos who despite sitting out the international break, hasn’t fully recovered from his thigh injury. Saeed Kolasinac and Nicolas Pepe are being assessed ahead of the weekend clash.

What Emery’s starting lineup could look like remains unknown as the manager himself seems uncertain about his best eleven. However, Granit Xhaka could make a return after being dropped from the squad and stripped of the captaincy due to his infamous altercation with the fans in the draw with Crystal Palace.

As for the away side, Ryan Bertrand is back from suspension and should get a nod. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has also recovered from a concussion and should feature, bolstering Hasenhuttl’s squad for what should be a tricky trip.
