Eden Hazard, the Real Madrid superstar who is slowly proving his worth in La Liga after a rough start at Santiago Bernabeu, has been labeled as the laziest players by a former team-mate.
That man is none other than John Obi Mikel, the Nigerian midfielder who spent 11 years at Chelsea and five alongside the Belgian superstar. Currently plying his trade in Turkey, the Super Eagles ace made this admission to beIN Sports.
Despite joking about the Belgian star’s worth ethics, Mikel held no doubts about the former Stamford Bridge sensation’s talents. The Nigerian found room to compliment the winger, hailing him as an incredible talent nonetheless.
"The laziest player I have played alongside is Eden Hazard," Mikel told beIN Sports in Turkey.
"Hazard has an incredible talent, maybe not as good as [Lionel] Messi, but he can do whatever he wants with the ball at his feet.
“He didn't like to train hard. While we were working he was waiting for us to finish training just standing there. But on Sundays he was always man of the match, it was unbelievable."
This comes after Eden’s rough start to life at Los Blancos. After completing a dream move to the Spanish capital, he joined the club for their pre-season tour but appeared to be out of shape.
Rumors then emerged that Florentino Perez was unhappy with the player and his fitness after their mega-money acquisition. His form has picked up as of late and he has now notched up one goal and four assists in a Merengues jersey so far.
