The Italian boss will not be coaching from inside the dugout for the bianconeri's opener against Parma.

Juventus' coach Maurizio Sarri will not be around for the first game of the season with the bianconeri.

The former Chelsea boss had been under medical surveillance for almost one week, since he had caught the flu, but after some days without any signs of improvement, the tactician underwent a medical examination at Juve's training complex, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia.

A press release by Juventus confirmed the coach's affliction, which may have been worsened by his smoking habit.

"Maurizio Sarri, after having observed rest over the weekend, was at the JTC Continassa today where he coordinated the work of his staff. Unfortunately, he could not conduct the training on the field due to the persistence of his flu, which struck him over the course of last week. In the late afternoon, he underwent further tests that confirmed he has pneumonia, for which specific therapy has been prescribed," the press release states.

The coach is set to miss the team's first clash of the season, against Parma. One of the members of his coaching staff will be in charge of passing around all tactics and lineups prior to the game.
