Bayern to welcome Hoffenheim without key member of squad

Fresh off their 4-0 mauling of Benfica, Bayern will resume domestic duties this weekend, with the latest team hoping to stop them being Hoffenheim.

Unfortunately, die Roten will welcome Hoffenheim without one of their key personnel members. No, it's not any of their star players, but rather their manager, Julian Naglesmann. The 34-year-old, who first became a household name as the youngest ever coach in the Bundesliga during his time with Hoffenheim, has contracted COVID-19.

According to reports, Naglesmann began to feel sick earlier this week while Bayern were in Portugal for their Champions League clash against Benfica. As a precaution, he decided to remain at the team hotel so as to isolate himself from the players and other staff, and now, Bayern have confirmed that he's tested positive for COVID-19.

Assistant coaching pair Dino Toppmoller and Xaver Zembrod were in charge as Bayern cruised to their 4-0 win over Benfica, and will be expected to again lead the squad as they prepare to welcome Hoffenheim.

Bayern currently are comfortably on top of their Champions League group after scoring a whopping 12 goals while conceding none, and will look to extend their narrow lead over the chasing pack in the Bundesliga as other sides like Dortmund, Leverkusen, and Freiburg are still in hot pursuit.
