Chelsea take on Tottenham in the standout showdown while league leaders Man United are gearing up for a clash with West Ham.

Round five of the 2021/22 Premier League season is upon us, with the upcoming Matchweek in the English top-flight kicking off on Friday. Leeds, who are yet to win a game this season, go in search of their first three points in their clash with Newcastle, the first game on the list.

Man United enter this Matchweek as the league leaders, having beaten Newcastle 4-1 over the weekend, with Cristiano Ronaldo grabbing a brace in his second debut. However, the Red Devils suffered a shock defeat during the midweek in their opening UEFA Champions League fixture, going 2-1 down away to Young Boy, and will thus need to bounce back.

Chelsea and Liverpool maintained the pressure on Solskjaer's side, beating Aston Villa and Leeds 3-0 respectively. Tottenham, on the other hand, suffered a slip-up, losing 3-0 away to Crystal Palace in a game that saw Tanganga sent off and Odsonne Édouard score less than a minute after coming on for his debut.

Elsewhere, Arsenal put an end to their three-game losing start by beating Norwich 1-0 to register their first victory of the campaign while defending champions Man City earned a slim 1-0 triumph over Leicester City. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming Matchweek in the English Premier League.

Top games to watch in Matchweek 5 in the English Premier League

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace: The Reds head into this clash on the back of two thrilling victories and will be keen on maintaining their winning streak when they host Crystal Palace on Saturday. In the Reds' most recent Premier League outing, they dispatched Leeds with ease, beating Bielsa's men 3-0 in a game marred by the horrific injury to Harvey Elliott. Over the midweek, the Merseyside giants hosted European giants AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League and fought from 2-1 down to triumph 3-2 over the Rossoneri.

As for Palace, they enter this tie on the back of their confidence-boosting 3-0 victory over 10-man Tottenham, with summer signing Odsonne Édouard and Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher stealing all the headlines. That triumph, their first of the season, was a relief for manager Patrick Vieira after a rough start for the Frenchman. A trip to Anfield, however, will be a whole different test.

West Ham United vs Manchester United: West Ham were top of the table prior to being held to a goalless draw by Southampton. David Moyes' men started the season extremely well and will be keen on returning to winning ways as soon as possible, but the London outfit will have to keep Cristiano and Co. at bay if they wish to walk away with all three points.

The Red Devils currently hold the top spot and that is thanks in part to Ronaldo's brace in his second debut for the 20-time Premier League champions. He continued his excellent form during the midweek, breaking the deadlock in their UCL clash with Young Boys, but that goal was not enough to seal them the win as Solskjaer's men fell to a 2-1 defeat. Man United will be eyeing a quick turnaround.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea: This is the standout game of the upcoming round. A London derby between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea that could have huge ramifications in the title race despite this fixture being so early in the campaign.

One of the major concerns for Spurs, who are keen on finishing in the top four in order to secure a return to the UEFA Champions League, is whether they can maintain their excellent start to the campaign. Prior to the 3-0 loss at Palace, the north London outfit had picked up three wins and conceded zero goals. However, back-to-back defeats would only bring back memories of the mid-season collapse they suffered last term under Jose Mourinho.

As for Chelsea, one of the favorites for the titles, this fixture could give insight as to whether Tuchel's men will run away with the trophy or whether they are not as formidable as initially thought. The Blues have won all but one of their four opening fixtures, with that one slip-up being the 1-1 draw at Liverpool. That result was a positive one for the UEFA Champions League holders as they were reduced to 10 men thanks to Reece James' sending off and had to hold on for a point, which they did extremely well. Do not miss their clash with Harry Kane and Co.
