After two consecutive defeats, can Bayern get back on track as they host a Freiburg side who've won their last five Bundesliga games? Check out our preview for Bayern vs Freiburg which kicks off on January 17th.

Preview: Bayern Munich vs Freiburg

For the first time in several months, Bayern will come into their upcoming Bundesliga match off the back of a defeat. Despite taking a 2-0 lead against Gladbach last weekend, die Roten were unable to make this advantage count as they slumped to a 3-2 loss, which is their second negative result so far this season. In addition, it ended an 11-match unbeaten run that Hansi Flick's side had built up - but that was only a sign of things to come.

A few days later, Bayern took on 2.Bundesliga side Holstein Kiel in the DFB-Pokal as they look to successfully defend their title in that competition. On paper, it seemed like a straightforward win for the Bavarian titans, but after the dust settled, Bayern were out of the competition. Shockingly, despite being the reigning Champions League winners and all-time Bundesliga title winners, die Roten were unable to see off the minnows who are hoping to be promoted to the top tier next season. Again, their defensive woes came back to haunt them as they repeatedly lost their lead, and a late goal from Holstein Kiel was enough to send the tie to spot-kicks.

As such, Bayern will now have to shake off that shock defeat as they will be hosting a Freiburg side who have been in excellent form as of late. Although their opponents have never won at the Allianz Arena, they come into this match having won their last five consecutive Bundesliga matches. Christian Streich's men cruised to an impressive 5-0 win over Koln last round, and despite the gulf between the sides, will still have some confidence at causing die Roten some trouble in this clash. After all, they would have observed how Gladbach were able to snatch a victory despite being two goals down, and even more encouraging perhaps will be Holstein Kiel's win in the DFB-Pokal.

Will Bayern be able to shake off a bad week and rebound here? Or will Freiburg, on a record-setting run, add more misery for the shell-shocked reigning champs?
