The Argentine is seen as the top option to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but that could only take place during the summer.

Manchester United fans seemed to support the idea of having Mauricio Pochettino taking over as their boss this season, but a clause in his exit deal with Spurs may see him wait for a few months while giving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer time to turn things around.

According to a report by The Mirror, the Argentine boss was tempted by Manchester United execs to see him taking over as coach, but the South American tactician turned them down due to his exit agreement.

The deal signed by Pochettino states that the former footballer would have to pay Tottenham a $13M compensation fee to his former club if he signs with another club before the end of this season. Apparently, this was also one of the reasons why Pochettino turned down Barcelona's coaching gig.

Pochettino's refusal to sign the deal has forced Manchester United to make a U-turn in their intentions to fire Solskjaer, even if the team has struggled to get results. Team vice president Ed Woodward has reportedly assured the Norwegian boss that he will remain coaching the Red Devils until the end of the season, but he has failed to extend that promise beyond the season.

So, after considering all variables, it seems that Pochettino has 13 million reasons for not wanting to work right now.
