The Welsh and French clubs had entered a tug of war after the EPL club missed the deadline for the first payment.

What could have turned into a disrespectful situation to the memory of Emiliano Sala has been solved by the common sense shown by both parties.

Nantes and Cardiff have finally agreed terms to see the Welsh team honoring the initial deal that would have seen Emiliano Sala playing for the EPL side, as the French side has agreed to give their Welsh counterpart one more week to honor the first payment, which was due today. Negotiations between both clubs guarantee that the Bluebirds will pay over $5.3M to the French side on February 27.

The French club had threatened to take the case to FIFA's Dispute Resolution Chamber, since the Welsh side was forced to pay Nantes despite Sala's demise.

Reports coming in from France suggest that both parties reached this settlement during a meeting held in Argentina. Both clubs sent emisaries to the player's funeral held in Santa Fe, which facilitated all dealings to be sorted out.

Nantes needs to see the payment go through in order to hand Bordeaux a share of the transfer, since they still owned 50% of the player's transfer rights. Cardiff is waiting for all investigations to conclude, since the club believes that a third party, namely player agent Willie McKay, could be sued for compensation due to his involvement in paying for the flight that was supposed to transport Sala to Cardiff after a weekend's stay in the French city.
