Tottenham will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League to five when they travel to Turf Moor on Monday.

Match Preview

Tottenham Hotspur will be out to return to winning ways when they travel to Burnley for Monday night's encounter. Jose Mourinho's men have their eyes set on making amends for blowing three-goal lead in their previous Premier League against West Ham to settle for a 3-3 draw in a dramatic fashion. Since then, the White Lilies have gone ahead to secure a win in the Europa League, defeating LASK by three goals to nil on Thursday.

The results from elsewhere in the Matchday 6 outings presents a favorable opportunity for Tottenham to move up on the league log. With a number of top clubs dropping points, Spurs could break into the top five with a win at Turf Moor. The feasibility of this is without doubt as they will come up against a Burnley side that sits 18th on the league log with just a point to show for.

The Clarets have been among the least impressive teams this term and are still struggling to find their feet. After suffering three successive defeats, they picked up their first point in a drab 0-0 draw with West Brom last weekend. The clash with Tottenham might have come too soon as they would have relished the prospect of building morale in camp with a win over another one of the Premiership's fringe sides.

The form of Sean Dyche's team tells the whole tale as the approach Monday's encounter with just two wins from their last 10 outings. They have been defeated five times and have drawn the remaining three games.

Team news

Burnley will enter Monday's clash with a host of key players absent. The Clarets will be without the services of Jack Cork, Ben Mee, and Phillip Bardsley. The availability of Erik Pieters remains uncertain as he is yet to recover from a calf injury. However, there is a boost in camp with Matthew Lowton set to return to action after recovering from an ankle injury.

For Tottenham Hotspur, Japhet Tanganga will not be available for selection as he is out with a thigh issue. Eric Dier is also a doubt as he battles a hamstring problem.

Predicted starting XI

  • Burnley: Pope; Lowton, Long, Tarkowski, Taylor; Gudmundsson, Westwood, Brownhill, McNeil; Barnes, Wood

  • Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris; Doherty, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Davies; Sissoko, Hojbjerg; Son, Ndombele, Bale; Kane.
