The 2019-20 season is not over in some European countries, but that does not mean that teams can't plan ahead for the next campaign.
Such is the case of Inter, a team that is ten games away from ending their run in the Serie A, and who are currently sitting in third place of the Italian top-flight. With their chances of success in the competition slowly fading away, Antonio Conte has started to plan ahead of next season, and the team's first signing is set to take place on Tuesday, when the nerazzurri sign Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi.
The player spent the last two seasons on loan at Borussia Dortmund, but the German club failed to execute the buyout clause included in the deal despite Hakimi's fine performances for Lucien Favre's men. Now, sources consulted by Spanish media outlet El Español reveal that Hakimi will join the nerazzurri for a bit over $40 million.
Hakimi seemed keen on returning to the Bernabeu for a second stint, but since Zinedine Zidane was not keen on handing him the starting spot, he chose to search for pastures new. Either way, El Español added that Los Blancos included a clause in his deal that will allow the club to try and match any new offers for his services.
The deal will also reportedly guarantee Hakimi a wage of over $5M per season, plus some bonuses that could see that number increase over time.
