Klopp reveals whether Liverpool can sign Mbappe amid links with PSG ace

It is already widely accepted that Kylian Mbappe is destined to follow in the footsteps of Messi and Cristiano by becoming the next best footballer. As a result, he is always linked with moves to other European heavyweights.

The latest club to be linked with the 2018 World Cup winner are Liverpool. The Reds have been tipped to make a move for the 20-year-old superstar given that the attacker’s sportswear sponsors are none other than the Merseyside giants’ new kit supplier Nike.

Many commentators have challenged Mbappe to leave Ligue 1, where PSG hold a monopoly over, to test himself in Europe’s bigger leagues and the Premier League would be exactly that. However, Jurgen Klopp has come out and ruled out the possibility of signing the former Monaco sensation.

The German boss addressed this issue ahead of his team’s crucial English top-flight clash with Man City. Despite winning the Champions League last season and being the favorites for the Premier League title, Klopp insists landing Mbappe is outside of their capabilities.

"Buying this caliber of player is difficult. I don't see any club at the moment who can buy Kylian Mbappe from PSG,” Jurgen said, as per Sky Sports.

"I don't see any club; that is how it is. And we are involved in the clubs that cannot do it. It is as easy as that.

"OK, from a sporting point of view, there are not a lot of reasons to not sign him. What a player he is.

"But it is about the money, of course. No chance. Absolutely no chance. Sorry for killing that story!"

Real Madrid and Juventus are believed to be the favorites to acquire the Frenchman’s services should he decide to leave his country’s capital. As for Liverpool, their only concern at the moment is Sunday’s clash with the reigning champions of England.

Van Dijk and Co. will welcome the Citizens to the Etihad knowing that a win would take them nine points clear of Man City. A defeat, however, would throw the title race wide open.
