Everton boss gives uplifting update on André Gomes' situation

Good news for football fans around the world, as the injury suffered by Portuguese midfielder André Gomes may not take as long as initially expected to heal.

According to coach Marco Silva's words, the former Valencia ace may be back  before the end of the campaign, especially due to the developments after the player underwent surgery to correct the horrific ankle injury he picked up against Tottenham.

"It is not easy to give a sure date about when he will return. But the feedback from medical staff is, it is possible we will see him playing again this season. It looks like a really serious injury, but everything went really well and we hope we can see him playing again this season,"Silva said.

The coach went on to discuss how the team has rallied to offer their support to André in this difficult time.

"Of course it was the toughest moment for Andre and the other players on the pitch. For the two players involved it was really tough as well. What is most important is to give Andre all the support he needs in this moment," Silva added.

The Portuguese boss admitted that Gomes buried the hatchet with Son Heung-Min, who was sent off by the ref following the challenge. According to the coach, Son called Gomes to offer an apology right after he found out that the FA had decided to erase the red card from the player's record, which will allow him to play in the upcoming weekend.
