The tournament will mark a new start for the oldest national team competition in the world, as it will be paired up with the UEFA Euro every four years.

The first-ever Copa América to be played in two different countries at the same time will know its fate during the last month of the year, as CONMEBOL execs have agreed to hold the draw for the competition on December 3 in the Colombian city of Cartagena.

This was revealed by the president of the Argentine Football Association, Claudio Tapia, as he stepped out of a meeting with CONMEBOL's general secretary José Astigarraga, Hugo Figueredo, Director of National Team Competitions, and Iñaki Álvarez, Logistics Coordinator.

All CONMEBOL countries will know the full scheme of the tournament this Thursday, when a new meeting is held at CONMEBOL's headquarters in Paraguay.

The tournament will begin on June 12, 2020, and the final match will be held exactly one month later. The opening game will be played in Argentina, while the title match is scheduled to be played on Colombian soil.

The main goal of the draw will be to allocate the two guest nations, Qatar and Australia, in either one of the groups. Added to that, the full schedule of games and dates will be revealed on December 3.

Argentina will be hosting the competition after nine years, while Colombia will do the same after a 19-year wait.
