Both Liverpool and Spurs will benefit from these changes, especially since both clubs have struggled with several injuries ahead of the big game.
The first change to the way the UEFA Champions League final is played will come if the clash goes to extra time. Both clubs will be allowed to make an extra substitution if the game can't be solved after 90 minutes.
This will be the first time in history in which both clubs will be allowed a fourth substitution, since this ruling was made official right after the 2017-18 campaign. Three of the last seven UEFA Champions League finals have been decided after extra time or via penalty shootouts, which makes us believe that watching 30 more minutes of football is quite possible.
The second ruling will give both bosses a chances to keep all their top guns around in case they need them, both on and off the pitch. UEFA has ruled that each team will have to hand in a 23-man list for the final, changing the amount of available substitutes from seven to twelve. This change will also be applied to the UEFA Europa League final.
Players such as Harry Kane or Roberto Firmino, who have struggled with their fitness lately, would have a chance to make the squad even if they can only play a few minutes. Added to their presence, U-23 players such as Liverpool's Rhian Brewster could also make the squad.
